Japanese Sister School Exchange

The Japanese Exchange Program held between Mac.Rob and the Shinwa Girls High School in Japan is the longest running language exchange program at Mac.Rob. Although there was a slight hiccup with Covid in 2021 and 2022, it has resumed running this year.

This year’s exchange was held from March 13th to March 27th, with thirteen Shinwa students pairing with Mac.Robbians who were their host sisters throughout their stay. The Shinwa students lived at their respective host sisters’ homes, and accompanied them to school, as well as to their extracurricular activities.

Within these two weeks, the Mac.Rob host sisters took them to some fun, adventurous, uniquely Australian activities in their spare time, including the Melbourne Skydeck, St.Kilda Beach, ice skating at the O’Brien Icehouse, and laser tag and bowling at Strike. At school, they followed their host sister to their classes and participated in all Year 11 and 12 Japanese classes, forming many friendships while improving their fluency in english.

During these activities, both the Shinwa students and the Mac.Rob students thoroughly enjoyed the exchange program, and have made some unforgettable memories (as well as some real applicable improvements to their language skills). We cannot wait for September, when Mac.Rob students head to Shinwa Girls High School for the second half of the exchange program.
