Japanese Language Speech Contest

On September 3rd, the annual Japanese Language Speech Contest was held at Melbourne University, with more than 30 finalists competing in Senior Divisions. Mac.Rob students Fiona (Year 11), Nhi (Year 11), and Minseio (Year 12) were lucky enough to compete, having worked on this speech contest with Ms. Fujiwara (Language Assistant) and myself during lunchtimes for the last 4 months.

Mr. Nawano of Melbourne University (Contest Chief Judge) commented later that the standard of the speeches was extremely high this year. We are thrilled to announce that Mac.Rob’s competitors achieved 1st, 3rd, and 4th place in the senior high school division.

Congratulations to Fiona (1st place State winner), Nhi (3rd), and Minseio (4th).

Fiona went on to represent Victoria in the National Speech Contest on October 3rd as the Victorian state winner. She has since won the National Competition and received tickets to Japan, Japan Rail travel passes, and accommodation courtesy of JTB!

Congratulations on this huge achievement!

Mr. Shungo Sawaki
