Middle School Form Challenge

Over the course of Term 3, during remote learning, our Middle School students have been taking part in Form Challenges. The Form Photo Challenge was to take a Form photo using a common theme or background during remote learning. Here we see the amazing work of 9C, 9F, 10I and 10L and hear from their Form Captains.

Ms. Patricia Sklavakis, Head of Middle School

“This year is definitely one for the books. With lockdowns happening on and off, there’s no doubt that staying positive and open minded has been difficult. But like other years, the form board challenge certainly knows how to bring out the creative side in everyone. Originally, when my form had first begun planning, we had come up with the idea of doing some sort of Greek mythology inspired board. However, it was clear that this idea just wasn’t making everyone excited and the form board challenge became almost homework for us. But then, after a couple weeks, one of my friends sent the class group chat a photo of the Little Miss characters. Before we knew it, we were all giving each other characters that best described them. We talked about how this would have been a great idea for our form board but unfortunately it was too late. However, when I saw just how engaged the class was, we made an impulsive decision to just go for it. And it was the best decision we ever made. It showcased each and every student in their own, unique way. And believe it or not, the class was actually excited to spend their lunchtimes working on our formboard, and in the end, it definitely paid off!” - Arya (Year 10)

“Online classes have made our form lessons a little awkward and it's been hard for us to stay connected, so when I heard about the Form photo challenge, I was pretty excited. It was nice to see our entire class contribute to this one photo and super cool that people would also contribute their ideas because we were determined to have the most creative photo. Although we ran into a few technical difficulties and had to try again many different times, it was really fun. I hope 10 Ingredients enjoyed it too!” - Celeste (Year 10)

“When I think of chaos, the thought of my form comes to mind. When I think of humorous, witty and unified, the same group of people seems to cheer in my mind. The feeling of belonging, and being welcomed with open arms is one that seems to channel through 9C. Thus, we seem to share a similar mindset when it comes to humour. It was no surprise when every vote on the google form was rooting for a rick roll; which led to the masterpiece before you. To conclude in the words of 9C, ‘We will never give you up’.” - Grace (Year 9)

“After collating and delegating our ideas, our form settled with two themes namely ‘Fight Scene’ and ‘Sending Some Love’. The main objective of ‘Fight Scene’ was to fabricate an interaction virtually, whilst ‘Sending Some Love’ was a way to spread some love, warmth and assurance to our peers and the school community. After countless adjustments concerning arm placement and corresponding backgrounds, we finally managed to capture the perfect shot! This challenge was an immensely appreciated task as it allowed us to further engage, connect and collaborate as a Form!” - Mary (Year 9)
