Wellbeing Report | Term 1, 2022

It’s been a great start to 2022 at Mac.Rob! It’s so wonderful to have students onsite and there’s a great atmosphere at school. We’re hoping that students are feeling connected and a part of our community.

Every student at Mac.Rob is now part of a Connect Class. Connect is an opportunity for students to create new friendships, learn new skills, build ties to the community, and support their mental health. It forms a key part of our strategy to help students develop a strong foundation for mental health, emotional intelligence, resilience and independence.

The program differs at each year level, allowing students to build on their knowledge over time. So far this Term, Year 9 students have learnt about time management and sleep, Year 10 students have focussed on connection and social skills, Year 11 students have talked about identity development and belonging, and Year 12 students have learnt about identity development and study skills.

Families can learn more about the Connect Program here.

In parallel with Connect, the Learning Mentor Program has also started this term. This program allows for every student at Mac.Rob to meet in small groups with a Learning Mentor, to develop skills in areas that will support their learning. Thus far, students have chosen to focus on sleep, time management, or social connection. Every student has formed a goal to work on over the course of this term.

Families can learn more about the Learning Mentor Program here.

We encourage parents and carers to talk to your children about Connect and the Learning Mentor Program, to find out what your child is learning about, and how it is affecting their life at Mac.Rob. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or feedback on either program, at bridget.mcpherson@macrob.vic.edu.au.
