Sorry Day Lunch, 2023

Representatives from Mac.Rob Reconciliation team attended a lunch hosted by the Port Phillip Citizens to commemorate National Sorry Day. The event, which took place on Thursday, May 25th, was held at the South Melbourne Community Centre.

The program featured a warm Welcome to Country and captivating performances by Yuggerabul and Kemer Kemer Meriam tenor, John Wayne Parsons, accompanied by a talented guitarist. Attendees also enjoyed refreshments throughout the event.

Dennis Fisher, also known as Den the Fish and the Co-Chair, served as the Master of Ceremonies, guiding the proceedings.

Our students were thrilled to represent the school at this meaningful occasion, demonstrating their genuine interest in our school’s reconciliation action plan. They had the opportunity to engage with Aboriginal poetry, songs, and stories, and even participated in an Indigenous dance.

To their delight, the students were fortunate enough to win prizes in the raffle draw and were presented with indigenous plants to be planted in the school garden, further fostering a connection with Aboriginal culture.
