Parents’ Association Reflection | 2024

As the year comes to a close, let me give you a recap for the year.

Mac.Rob challenges students to excel and take a broad view of leadership and success. As parents, we support them by playing a part in building a lively, strong and spirited school community.

We kicked off the year with a bang! After a five-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the eagerly anticipated International Ball made its triumphant return. Thanks to the generosity of the Mac.Rob community, the Interball not only met but exceeded its fundraising goal, raising over $6,000, which the PA will allocate towards student benefits. The evening felt like a "huge family gathering," complete with food, drinks, dancing, prizes, and, most importantly, a lot of fun and laughter. Our goal was to celebrate our diversity and culture while connecting parents and students in the wider community, and we certainly achieved that.

Key activities for the year include the Bunnings BBQ which raised another $3,000, the staff appreciation morning tea, and Year 12 Graduation gifts, whereby a group of parents took the time to prepare gifts for Year 12 graduates and support teachers, thanks to donations from the parent community. We also did Second Hand Uniform Sale offered students the opportunity to buy uniforms at a reduced cost whilst promoting sustainability.

The PA & Principal virtual chats provide a valuable platform for parents to connect with the Principal, an event greatly appreciated by the parent community. Recently, we've been discussing the new Learner Model to gain a better understanding and to explore ways in which both the school and the parent community can support students with their learning.

PA welcomed the new cohort of 2028 Year 9 families during the recent Information Evening and provide morning tea on Orientation Day. We also did a second-hand uniform sale which raised over $6,500 whilst at the same time reducing the parents' financial burden and encourage sustainability.

All the funds raised will be utilised for the students benefit. Every year the PA have been contributing by sponsoring 60 Academic Excellence Awards for Year 9 to 12 students amounting to $3,000. A significant contribution to the school amounting to $10,000 was also made to purchase 2 sets of outdoor furniture. These will enhance the aesthetics and usability of the school grounds for the students who will now have a proper place to have meals and catch up with friends. Through this, we hope it all adds up to a better learning experience.

A big thank you to all parents who have contributed and volunteered, making it possible for the events to happen, connecting students and families to the school community. I hope to see more of you next year.

Thank you.
