Mac.Rob Book Week Celebrations

Book Week Character Parade

Book Week was a riot of colourful costumes and literary allusions, with appearances by everyone from malevolent Maleficent, to killer Katniss couture, to awesome anime-inspired outfits, to an appropriately shocked Scooby Gang! With such a terrific turnout, this was one of Mac.Rob’s best Book Weeks ever! Kudos to the incredible student organisers and everyone who dressed up - amazing work!

GIV Volunteering Book Sale

Mac.Rob's very first book sale was an enormous success with our fellow bookworms purchasing a large number of books. We made over $200, which was donated towards BookAid - an organisation that purchases new and up-to-date books for underprivileged children. The book sale was organized by 10F, who won the GIV Volunteering initiative competition.

The book sale was run at recess in the BBQ area over two tables stacked with many many books. These ranged from popular books such as “One of Us Is Lying'' to childhood favorites such as Harry Potter, David Walliams, and even Tom Gates. It was really great to see the tables flooding with students eager to buy some books to add to their shelves. All books were unpriced, as we asked students for how much they thought the books were worth, making this affordable for all students. We even had plentiful volunteers dedicating their recess and lunch to selling the books.

Of the remaining books, some were donated to South Melbourne Primary school and the rest towards Vinnies. Our Connect Captain and GIV Captains worked super hard to guide our class to this successful event, and we hope to run again next year!
