Tennis State Finals

On May 17th, the Senior Girls Tennis team went to Boroondara Tennis Centre to compete in the State Championship. The girls had to first pass Divisions and Regionals, so getting to State level was quite impressive! The team was determined to do their best. There were eight teams competing in totals, divided into two pools. Mac.Rob placed 1st in their respective pool, which allowed them to move onto the semi-finals, where we versed Brentwood Secondary. The matches were tough and very close, and in the end, we just lost the semi-finals by a rubber and two games! We're immensely proud of ourselves for getting as far as the semis and placing 3rd overall. As Ellie, Yenuli, Archie and myself are all in Year 12, this was a great way to end our tennis journey at Mac.Rob!

Intermediate Soccer Article

The Intermediate Soccer Team competed in Caufield on Tuesday, May 25th. Our skilful team included assigned Captain, Isabelle, and players, Wynne, Sophie, Sabina, Magdalena, Mimi, Jillian, Verene, Nika, Khawner, Mai, Anya, Mishka and goalkeeper, Mirit. The team had an amazing coach, Mr. Vi, who led them with commitment and enthusiasm every step of the way. Our first game as a team was played against Leibler Yavneh College, which we won with an outstanding score of 5-0! The team played together in style, playing fast football and an attacking game. Amazingly, the ball hardly reached Yavneh’s forward half the entirety of the game.

Our team’s second game, against Albert Park College, was a little more challenging. Albert Park’s team was very talented and the game ended with a score of 2-1, with Albert Park College taking the victory. Despite this unfortunate loss, Mac.Rob did not lose hope, and the Intermediate Soccer Team ended up winning the final match against Cheltenham Secondary College with a score of 3-0! We came 2nd overall, demonstrating amazing soccer skills and wonderful sportsmanship. We had a lot of fun as a team and displayed our teamwork skills on the field. All the girls played amazingly and despite not coming first, it was a really enjoyable day!

Interschool Netball

On Tuesday, May 25th, the Inter-School Netball teams travelled to Dandenong to compete in the Beachside Division Netball Competition. It was a great day filled with lots of team spirit, camaraderie, and overall some awesome netball. Despite facing rainy and windy conditions, the B Team played exceptionally well! They had some hard-fought matches throughout the day, coming out of it with one win. The A Team played off against their pool for the first three matches. These matches were won convincingly and they then progressed to the final. The final was a tough, close game, but unfortunately they were defeated. Congratulations to both A and B Teams on their great efforts and sportsmanship throughout the day!

Handball

On Tuesday, May 25th, our two Intermediate Handball teams trekked their way over to the Albert Park Indoor Centre to represent Mac.Rob in Beachside Intermediate Handball. We faced off against multiple teams from around the district, versing both girls and boys in our intermediate mixed division. The games were intense, often trading point for point, leaving everyone wondering just who might win each round!

In the end, both Mac.Rob Handball teams came to a stunning win in the two games against our opposing girls teams, and lost by only a slight margin (unlike the height difference) against the boys. The enthusiasm and effort was incredible, with our coach, Dr. Matthews, calling in to support us via Google Meet.

All in all, it was a great day that really tested our limits! Every cheer, jump, and shot reminded me of just how incredible our Mac.Rob spirit really is. We came away with more than just a couple wins - we came away knowing that we put our all into those games, and made one another proud to be part of the handball team. Go Mac.Rob!
