I.B. Program At Mac.Rob | First Year Reflection

What a year 2022 has been for teaching and learning. With the first full year of face to face learning after the pandemic under our belt, students have re-built their stamina, collaborative learning and most essentially their sense of belonging. This year also marks our International Baccalaureate’s (IB) first year.

This first year would not have happened without the fantastic team of staff and supports to ensure that the program was accredited helmed by the previous school principal, Anne Stout, and our IB Leader, Shungo Sawaki. I also want to particularly thank our School Council and our inaugural families, staff and students.

Our first year of IB students have spent the year curiously and creatively investigating what it means to learn across nine subjects! Their enthusiasm for inquiry, risk taking, and learning together is palpable. We are looking forward to our second year of IB next year when our Year 12 IB students pave the way for our new cohort and thus the future of our school.

We are proud to be one of a few government schools that offers both the IB and VCE diplomas, and we are excited to continue to grow as IB learners. If you are curious to find out more about the IB, please attend our IB information sessions in 2023 to see if it’s the right diploma for you.

Ultimately, IB supports our learners as global citizens to ask life’s big questions, for as Albert Einstein said, “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.”
