Rotary Representatives Visit
On August 29th, our school had the pleasure of welcoming Wendy Stirling, Rotary Chair and Youth Public Speaking Ambassador, along with Des O’Shanassy, Port Phillip Rotary’s School Representative. They attended the Interact Club’s executive meeting to review and discuss both ongoing and future projects.
Wendy and Des expressed their delight with how well the club is operating, particularly impressed by the meaningful projects completed by our students. Among the notable initiatives are “For A Meal,” “Backpacks for Vic Kids,” our visit to Alba Aged Care, “Friendship Bracelets for Ronald McDonald House,” and the butterfly bookmarks gifted to Year 9 students. The compassionate focus of these efforts, extending beyond fundraising, left a lasting impression on both Wendy and Des.
With such positive feedback, we are hopeful that Rotary will continue to sponsor even more Mac.Rob students in upcoming leadership opportunities.
Interact Multi-District Conference
On Monday, September 2nd, students from Mac.Rob attended the Multi-District Interact Conference at Canterbury Grammar School. Seventeen students, including two of our Interact leaders, proudly represented Mac.Rob, showcasing our key projects for 2024 and outlining exciting new initiatives planned for 2025.
The event brought together representatives from ten schools, Rotaract clubs, and several Rotarians. Attendees were treated to a series of insightful presentations on leadership, followed by interactive breakout room discussions that allowed participants to share valuable perspectives on leadership development.
Mac.Rob’s projects were met with enthusiasm and positive feedback from the Rotarians present, affirming our school’s commitment to community service and leadership. The conference also provided an excellent opportunity for networking and building connections with like-minded students and professionals.
In addition to the engaging content, everyone enjoyed a delicious morning tea and lunch, which further added to the experience.
Exam Skills Workshop
On Friday, September 13th, the school theatre was alive as students gathered for the highly anticipated Exam Skills Workshop presented by none other than Elisa Yung, the DUX of 2023. During the lunchtime session, Elisa shared invaluable advice on how to effectively prepare for exams, manage time, and tackle stress during the final stages of study.
The event saw a fantastic turnout, with many students eager to gain insights from someone who had recently navigated the same challenges. Elisa’s tips on exam techniques, note-taking, and balancing study with personal well-being were particularly appreciated. The session allowed students to ask questions, which Elisa addressed with clarity and practical advice.
This event was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Palladians Association and the Palladian’s student representatives, who worked together to organise the workshop. Their efforts ensured a seamless experience for all attendees, providing a unique opportunity for students to learn from a top achiever and feel more prepared for the exam season ahead.
A big thank you to Elisa Yung and the Palladians Association for this informative and inspiring session!
