Lord Somers Year 10 Camp

Whilst down at Lord Somers Camp, we were really fortunate to have gorgeous weather and sunshine overhead every day. Situated right on the beach and next to an estuary, students spent a lot of time covered in sand and down by the water. We know that Camp is an important social experience that allows students to learn about responsibility whilst encouraging exploration. With a small student committee, students made suggestions for the Camp program and the activities. The program included stand-up paddle-boarding, beach games, pizza-making, a disco, trivia, screen-printing, a barista course, and the historic Coolart Walk. We were really proud of the energy and enthusiasm that the students brought to Camp; they were all willing to try new things and create new memories. Well done, Year 10!

Ms Irma Koulouris, Year 10 Coordinator

Camp was an incredible experience, a memorable time for the whole Year 10 cohort. The best part for me was the beach games at the end, where we all competed against other forms for first place. We also did things like pizza-making and stand-up paddle-boarding, which was very eventful and fun. At Lord Somers, we bonded over the most amazing activities that we will be able to look back on for years to come. - Reimi

This years’ Camp was so much fun - it was definitely one of the best Camps I’ve ever been on. Our class really drew closer, sleeping in the same cabin, and I got to know people I wouldn’t have normally. Working in the cafe was one of the most stressful experiences I’ve ever had, but it was still a blast. What was really nice was seeing how supportive everybody was throughout the experience and how we all cheered each other on at the tops of our lungs, losing our voices by the end of each day. - Natasha
