Victorian Young Leaders: Global Youth Forum

Last week, a select group of passionate Year 9 students had the privilege of participating in the Victorian Young Leaders: Global Youth Forum. Over the course of three days, students explored what it meant to be an active and informed global citizen, and worked together to find creative solutions to global challenges that affect our community. Here’s what some of the students had to say about the experience:

“Life is about perspective and how you look at something..ultimately you have to zoom out.” - Whitney Wolfe Herd

“The Global Youth Forum was a three day experience that enriched all of our lives. It wasn’t simply a forum. Rather, it was a time that we could gain insight and perspective into crucial issues that affected our global community as a whole. It encouraged us to question what’s happening in the world and how we can start changing ourselves to change the world. This eye opening event teaches to promote our voice as students and the youth of the world. I think this program has changed us for the better and made us empathetic and understanding human beings.” - Nandini S (9B)

“The Victorian Young Leaders Global Youth Forum was an incredible program that allowed us to connect with peers from across the Asia-Pacific, resulting in lifelong bonds of friendship and the creation of memories and connections that we will cherish forever.- Hannah T (9H)

“In retrospect, the Victorian Young Leaders Global Youth Forum was an elevating and empowering experience. It not only honed my leadership skills but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards addressing global challenges. This invaluable experience continues to shape my perspective and actions as I embark on my journey as a young leader in the world.” - Sonara W (9F)

“The Victorian Young Leaders Global Youth Forum was an enlightening and exciting experience. Bringing together the vibrant minds of tomorrow from all over the world, it fostered an exchange of ideas and perspectives. Through collaboration with peers around the world, we were able to gain valuable insights on global issues. This program left me inspired and well-equipped to promote a better future for our world as a young leader.” - Amy T (9L)

“To say this program was amazing is an understatement. Students all over the Asia-Pacific, (Malaysians, Indians and Koreans just to name a few) discussed global issues as well as local problems that impact their education. Over 3 captivating days, we were able to collaborate in group activities that targeted not only our critical thinking but also our creative response. It was extremely impactful toward my social skills, more specifically my public speaking skills. My participation in the Victorian Young Leaders Program leaves me with a crucial, undeniable desire to learn more about how to be a global citizen and the significance that youth holds when it comes to improving the future.” - Nethasha P (9C)
