SRC Week 2023

Term 2 Week 2 was definitely a highlight here at SRC! With a jam-packed week filled with events ranging from whole school to year level, and opportunities to explore the broader responsibilities of SRC of amplifying student voice, it was definitely a week to remember!

Multicultural Monday, Teacher Tuesday, We Listen Wednesday

We hit off SRC Week with a bang on Multicultural Monday! It was so wonderful to see everyone dressed up in the wide range of cultural clothing or clothing representative of their culture. The multicultural parade was filled with such good vibes and definitely a fun display of all the amazing cultural clothing and diversity here at Mac.Rob. Student cultural performances were stellar as always! It was such a treat to see many students sing and dance to a wide variety of music from all cultures, and even more wonderful cultural performances outside singing and dancing. Our multicultural food stall was the place to be if students wanted to try a range of cultural food. And so, it was so amazing to see many students stop by our stall!

Teacher Tuesday was a day where we celebrated one of SRC’s biggest supporters, the teachers! The staff and teachers here at Mac.Rob truly help the SRC to amplify student voice and agency, as we can trust in them to help us enact positive change. Thus, it was definitely a highlight going head to head with Spicy Tea, Spicy Soup! Where students or teachers failed to answer some spicy questions, well, down goes the spicy soup. Though there were a few technical difficulties here and there, it was great to see so many students get involved, and we hope all of you had an enjoyable time!

We Listen Wednesday was a day where we took a short break from the many events here at SRC. Instead, we focussed one of our mottos, “You Speak, We Listen”, where the students are encouraged to share with us some insight of the changes they would like to see in the Mac.Rob community. Through open forums it is one of the many avenues students can reach out to the SRC to amplify their voice, so it was wonderful to see many students taking initiative to take active steps forward for positive change!

Without further ado, let’s hear from our Engagement Teams for a quick recap about their events on Together Thursday and Feel Good Friday!

Together Thursday

Year 9 Movie Lunch

Excited for a girl-boss movie? Us too! Come along and watch an exciting romance movie with a twist of comedy screening this SRC week Thursday (free popcorn involved)!

Oh wait... SRC week has already passed...?! Oopsies! We'll tell you about the event instead then!

Movie Day was a Year 9 event featuring the streaming of the movie Legally Blonde in the hall. It features Elle Woods' journey as she navigates through law school for the sake of love. The comedic yet realistic hurdles that she faces along the way is truly an entertaining watch for those who want to relax and chill out with friends! Not to mention.... FREE POPCORN was given in colourful and handmade cones! A truly must-come event!

Year 10 Eager for Easter

On the Thursday of SRC Week, the Year 10 Engagement Team hosted the long awaited… Eager for Easter! The room was filled with eager students who had the opportunity to venture around the room in a quest to solve riddles for free chocolate. Prizes ranged from kit kats, milky way and mars bars, leaving everyone with smiles the entire day.  Alongside the adventure, students artistically designed their own egg-cellent bonnets, of which the best bonnets were awarded delicious prizes!

Feel Good Friday

Year 11 Whole School Disco and Karaoke

Ending SRC week with a blast, we, the Year 11 SRC Engagement Team, held an awesome disco event in the hall and karaoke in the theatre!!

At the disco we blasted classic songs such as Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ and Katy Perry’s ‘Last Friday Night’ and at the karaoke we sang iconic songs such as 'Let it Go' and ‘What Makes You Beautiful' ! It was so great seeing you guys having fun with the glowsticks, dancing with your friends, and singing the songs :D Thanks to everyone who came, we hope you had fun!!

Year 12 Formal

May 5th will forever be one of the most special days of the Class of 2023’s high school experience. It was such a highly anticipated event, and it did not disappoint! The venue itself was absolutely incredible, and it looked even better with all the students and teachers in their beautiful dresses and suits.

The night was filled with action and excitement, starting off strong with a very special dance from the teachers! Some highlights were student performances with a variety of dances and singing - amazing as always :).

Year 12 Formal was truly an unforgettable experience, and such a great way to celebrate this wonderful cohort <3

We would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who participated and got involved in all SRC Week festivities, you truly are real superstars!
