Sports At Mac.Rob: Term 1 Wrap-Up

Term 1 has been incredible for Sports at Mac.Rob, playing host to a wide range of whole-school, inter-school, and individual events and achievements. Congratulations to our many teams and athletes for their efforts, and to the highlights of the Term outlined below!

Swimming Carnival

On February 16th, we had our first school-wide sporting event for the year - the Swimming Carnival. The day was filled with nostalgia and fun as the entire school put on their best costumes from childhoods shows and movies. The day was a great success as so many people chucked on some bathers, jumped into the pool, and gave everything a go. Congratulations to all of our individual age group champions; Zimo X (14 year olds), Megan V and Vasilisa S (15 year olds), Ivy L (16 year olds), Isabelle N (17 year olds) and Bessie N (18 year olds). A massive shoutout to Sienna S from Year 11 who broke the school record for the 50-metre freestyle not just once, but twice throughout the day! Well done to Nereids for taking home the cup this year. Get excited for an amazing year of sport, with Athletics Carnival coming up on May 12th!

Charity Volleyball Match

On Friday, February 25th, students and teachers prepared to play in a competitive volleyball match as our first student vs. teachers charity event of the year! Thank you to all the students and staff who filled the gym, creating an exciting and fun environment for all. We raised a total of $282.50 through raffle tickets, which will be donated to Disability Sports Australia to provide Australians with a disability more opportunities to get active! Congratulations to the students for winning the volleyball game 2 sets to 1.

Ride 2 School Day

Ride 2 School Day was on Friday, March 25th. Sport and Enviro encouraged students to be more environmentally conscious on their way to school by walking or riding. The morning was a great success and upon arrival, students were provided with a free healthy breakfast. We also had smoothie bikes to get students and teachers into the spirits of riding to school! We hope this day inspires students to continue to choose an alternative route to school where possible.

Interschool and Senior Sports

The Summer sports of Term 1 were cricket, softball, tennis, volleyball, and lawn bowls. Massive congratulations to our inter-school cricket, tennis, softball and volleyball teams, and Seniors cricket, volleyball, and softball teams for making it to the next round. The Mac.Rob frisbee team also did amazing with coming first and third in a state competition. We couldn’t be prouder of their efforts, and we look forward to the outcomes of the next round!
