Selective Entry Network Summit
On April 17th, student representatives from the Select Entry Network of Schools (SENS) convened at Melbourne High School for the annual SENS Summit. This gathering brought together the SRCs of Mac.Rob, Melbourne High, Nossal, and Suzanne Cory to forge connections, foster collaboration, and strategize for upcoming inter-school activities.
On this day, over 100 student leaders assembled to share insights, address challenges, and brainstorm initiatives aimed at enhancing student life across their respective schools. The day began with engaging icebreaker activities, including fan favourites like "Bang," to establish rapport among the students. Following these activities, structured discussions tackled common school challenges, such as mental health and student agency, within Year level groups. Students exchanged insights about their own schools' logistics and gained a deeper understanding of the structures within other schools.
The afternoon was dedicated to detailed planning sessions. Year 12 teams focused on organising the annual Senior Cup, while Year 11s deliberated on the specifics of the new SENS Trivia event, set to debut in 2024. Year 10 teams engaged in rich conversations with peers and teachers to prepare for the highly anticipated SENS Cup. Meanwhile, Year 9 teams used this time to deepen their understanding of the vibrant culture of student leadership within SENS.
Overall, the SENS Summit was a resounding success, laying the groundwork for ongoing cooperation and collective action. It highlighted the power of student leadership in driving positive change and building stronger, more connected school communities.
