One Girl Fundraising

As students lucky enough to attend Mac.Rob, we’re aware that receiving an education is a privilege that has unfortunately not been granted to lots of girls around the world. One Girl, our chosen fundraising organisation for 2021, lies very close to our hearts, as it supports girls’ education and women’s rights.

On Friday, June 18th, we had the privilege of talking to the CEO of One Girl, Dr. Chrisanta Muli. Although we had to do the interview over Zoom given the restrictions from COVID-19, we were amazed at all the stories Dr. Muli shared, as well as her fresh perspective. She is incredibly well rounded, having worked for organisations such as Oxfam Australia, the International Women’s Development Agency, and has extended her practises to teaching at the University of Melbourne and many more. She has attained a range of skills and qualifications not only from her different places of work, but also after having lived in Kenya and Canada.

During the Q&A section, she gave us some great insight into topics, from the portrayal of feminism in the media to how everyday students (like MacRobbians) can make a meaningful impact in our community through volunteering and advocating!

We can’t wait to see everyone get involved in some of the opportunities the student leadership team has in store for in Term 3!
