Megantic Mentorship Program

On Wednesday, the 14th of May, I and five other MacRobbians went down to Megantic for the first session of our mentorship program. Megantic is an eCommerce company which works with SEO (search engine optimisation), organic search, increasing click-through rate, and more. They are one of the leading online marketing services in Australia.

In the session, the people at Megantic explained what they do at their company. It was very insightful to hear about the different roles at the company. Some roles included onboarding, co-founder, and more. We also learnt about how they choose to recruit. Their answers were interesting and enlightening. We learnt many things, including how many of them came to be employed at Megantic. Most of them did not originally have a background in eCommerce, and we learnt that for recruitment, Megantic highly values personality and ability to work together in a team. The people at Megantic told us that skills in eCommerce can be taught, but personality is much harder to learn. I think this shows that while we should work hard towards our future, there is no need to get too hung up on the specifics of what industry or degree we choose to go into.

We are looking forward to our next session, where we'll be sure to learn many more interesting things.
