Japanese Exchange Program
The Japanese Exchange program held between Mac.Rob and the Shinwa Girls High School is one of the highlights of the school year, and this year has marked the 17th exchange between our schools!
On the morning of the March 18th, our Japanese students gathered at the entrance of Mac.Rob, ready to welcome their host sisters after months of anticipation. This year’s exchange was held for 10 days, after which the Shinwa students went to visit other iconic areas in Victoria.
Throughout their stay, the twelve Shinwa students accompanied their host sisters to class, lived with their host families and participated in Australian day-to-day life, forming many friendships and improving their English fluency. Mac.Rob students took their host sisters to explore Melbourne, taking part in activities such as ice skating at O’brien Icehouse, shopping at Bourke St Mall and Melbourne Central, and excursions to Melbourne Zoo and St Kilda Beach.
The Shinwa students were able to experience Mac.Rob’s own culture in Connect Classes, assemblies, and the Holi Festival Celebrations, during which the students were able to appreciate the diversity at our school.
Throughout the exchange both Mac.Rob and Shinwa students have made unforgettable memories, long lasting friendships and incredible improvements in their language skills. We are all counting down the days until June, when our Mac.Rob students will travel to Japan and be reunited with their host sisters.
